MD Groundworks successfully delivered the full design and installation of HV and LV electrical systems for the Stane Park Retail Development. Acting as a specialist subcontractor, we completed the 10-month project on time and within budget, supporting the delivery of 10 commercial retail units with reliable and sustainable power infrastructure.

Scope of Work
MD Groundworks was responsible for the end-to-end delivery of electrical infrastructure, including:
- Design and installation of an offsite 11kV cable route (approx. 2km)
- Construction and fit-out of a dual-transformer substation
- Full HV and LV cable terminations
- LV cable distribution across the development to meter points and service heads
- Integration with UKPN’s primary substation
Offsite HV Cable Installation
We delivered a high-quality, DNO-compliant installation of 2,400 metres of 11kV high-voltage cable connecting the site to UKPN infrastructure. Key deliverables:
- Trenching: 450mm wide x 900mm deep
- Ducting and reinstatement of the public highway to HAUC standards
- Completion of 7 joint bays with cables installed at 250m intervals
- Zero sheath damage and full cable integrity throughout
Onsite Substation Construction
Our experienced electrical and civil teams constructed and commissioned the on-site substation, including:
- Installation of dual 11kV transformers
- HV and LV switchgear configuration
- All necessary cable terminations and testing
- Energization and handover in accordance with UKPN guidelines
Sustainability & Logistics
The project was supported by our Wickford depot, located just 40 minutes from site, allowing:
- Reduced carbon emissions through efficient material transport
- Lower fuel use and minimal environmental impact
- Rapid deployment of tools, plant, and materials
